Artist Statement

My name is Lindy Rutherford and I am an artist. Always drawing and doodling, sewing clothes and creating figures out of clay and fabrics, always learning. I have always been inspired most by sculpture. I love the act of creating something with my hands from my vision.
I continued my art exploration with acrylic painting classes that made me realize how much I love bright colors. I love drawing and sketching and have been an active member of Urban Sketchers where I learned the art of seeing and documenting the real world.
I started creating these abstract designs that are a snapshot of pop culture. Designs of natural and man-made objects artfully arranged to be quirky, interesting, and pleasing to the eye. These designs include layers of textures and materials and objects are attached to the background in ways that become part of the design.

Medium: Assemblage
