Artist Statement

I have always enjoyed expressing myself creatively in various ways. In about 2000 I discovered how wonderful it felt to have a paint brush in my hand and I dove in with all my heart. I loved oil painting from the beginning.

I taught myself to paint by reading instructional books and looking at lot of other artist’s work. Most importantly, I let nature teach me. I began asking myself “What color is that tree trunk really. How would I mix the color of that water? How would I make it move? How could I re-create that texture?” It has been amazing! It has opened the world to me and I’ve learned to see so much more than I had previously.

I have shown and sold my work through galleries in Portland and Yachats, community spaces, a variety of shows, juried and not, and through personal connections.
