Artist Statement

I started painting watercolors 4 years ago when I was 67, when I took a watercolor class at Clackamas Community College.

I also like photography and traveling, and since moving to Oregon I have traveled around the Pacific Northwest taking photographs. I am now looking at subjects with the thought “how would that look as a painting?”; all my paintings are based on photographs that I have taken.

I find it exciting to go down a road and find a rusty car or an old barn to use for a painting; this satisfies my wanderlust and my creative side.

I continue to drive around the Northwest with my friend Carol and find and photographs subjects for my paintings.
