Artist Statement

I was a molecular biologist, now draw to art. I paint, make collages, photograph nature. I find the noticeable similarities in the process of making art and doing scientific research, both requiring an open mind, a free spirit, and many bold experiments.
“A Verse of coast” was inspired by the unique landscape of Northwest coast. A combination of local handmade paper and traditional Chinese rice paper with ink patterns was selected for weaving a dreamy sea line poem. The wind bended tree; the sea creature harbored rock; the cloud and the moon are the characters in the story.

Medium: Collage
