Lake Oswego Reads: “Rise of the Rocket Girls”

Look forward to a month full of wonderful and exciting events related to this year’s pick for Lake Oswego Reads: Rise of the Rocket Girls by Nathalia Holt! Take a look at the many exciting and informative offerings we have lined up for 2017. PLEASE NOTE NOT ALL EVENTS TAKE PLACE AT THE LIBRARY!

February 1, 7 -8 pm – How NASA Came To Be – Mary Kaiser, a research scientist at NASA AMES Research Center for 30 years, will explain the history of space that few know. Location: Lakewood Center for the Arts

February 3, 2 – 3 pm – Book Discussion. Location: Lake Oswego Preservation Society History Center & Museum (40 Wilbur Street)

February 6, 6 – 8 pm – Art Show: Reception & Meet the Artists – Well recognized artists will explain the art they created after reading Rise of the Rocket Girls which will be displayed during February at Lakewood Center for the Arts. Location: Lakewood Center for the Arts.

February 8, 7 – 9 pm – Nathalia Holt: Author Presentation and Greeting – Nathalia Holt’s Rise of the Rocket Girls is the true story of women who helped launch America into space. Join us as we hear Nathalia Holt’s presentation: Rocket Girls: The Unsung Heroes of NASA. Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Location: Lake Oswego High School
