Lewis & Clark Graduate School

Laura Moulton, MFA

Lately, watching the nightly news can take a mental toll, and it seems everywhere there is evidence of sorrow. But from suffering springs an opportunity to create art that makes a difference, to beat back despair with poetry and literature.

Using writing as a tool for inquiry and creative expression, this course examines writers and artists who use their work to affect social change. We will emerge with new writing, art projects and lesson plans in mind, as well as strategies for getting their work into the world. Poetry, art projects and sample lesson plans will be available for educators to incorporate into their own teaching.e.
