Growing up surrounded by agricultural landscapes, I have fond memories of visiting farms and participating in community events held in or around these cherished buildings. Each tells a story: whether it’s where my friends and I learned to ride horses, the one that hosted potluck dinners where we gathered to share home-cooked meals, or the backdrop to countless childhood adventures. I am captivated by the way barns evoke a sense of nostalgia and belonging, when life revolved around community, nature, and hard work.
I’ve been focusing on Clackamas and East Multnomah County barns as they are quickly disappearing from the landscape.
