In my life experience travel plays a large and important part in my expression. The past few years I have spent several months in Rome, Italy. There I was inspired by the amazing story of Mount Testaccio. The mountain is formed entirely of broken clay pots that carried olive oil to Rome around 200AD. This recycling lit my imagination and I began to think of those vessels as containers of history and culture becoming layers of time. I created 24 collages, a collection of experience, imagination, thought: the stuff of life that eventually becomes the earth we walk upon.
