Artist Statement

Rod Stroh arrived in the Hoodland area in 1982 and came to enjoy photography in 2005. Combining his love of photography with his digital processing skills, he has developed his “Artistically Mastered” body of work.

Artistically mastered work is like— painting with pixels. The process starts with a photograph, which may be substantially altered by changing the colors, the lighting, the texture or by moving subjects around for a better composition; the resulting photograph has the appearance of a painting. This work requires creativity and much more time than standard processing. Though the essence of the original photograph is still there, it’s one-of-a-kind creation.
