This year, I am doing some impressionistic drawings. My Grandmother was a flapper in the 1920’s, and my drawings are in her honor. The flappers were amazing women, who cut off their long hair, threw away their corsets, and broke the “good girl” images to party and be free. It took bravery, strength, and a sense of fun. They changed the world for American women forever.
I have drawn my flappers from vintage photographs of real women. I love their outlandish hats and their dramatic poses. All drawings are done in monochrome with chalk. I hope they make people smile.
