Artist Statement

What began as a childhood fascination for color and drawing, Elo Wobig’s paintings are easily identified by gesture, calligraphic details and vibrant color. Primarily a landscape painter, she is inspired by scenes of the PNW. “A friend once teased that I was easily amused, which only means that I find beauty in everyday places.” Her practice of documenting life in sketchbooks led to an inclination for plein air painting. Her works convey a sense of serenity, joy, and praise of beauty. As much a scientist as she is an artist, Elo enjoys experimenting with endless technical possibilities of oil painting.
