Artist Statement

I create intuitive and abstract art using acrylics and other media.

Painting and mixed media came out of a very primal need to create with my hands. In 2009 I began playing with fabric and cut paper, but soon began using a variety of media. In 2015 I discovered “intuitive painting” and began to play with acrylic paints. Recently, I started painting with bright gouache paints on watercolor paper as well. I love to use pens, palette knives and other non-traditional tools to create marks that can’t be created with a brush – (My paintings June Blues and Vicariously, Morocco are 95% finger-painted!).

When I begin a painting, I never know where it will take me. I start with a color and strive to strike a pleasing balance with colors and patterns while allowing a spacious feeling to remain.

Medium: Acrylic, Ink
