Artist Statement

Jeanie Bates is a native Oregonian. Inspiration comes naturally living in the Pacific Northwest. This has strongly influenced the content, and colors in the images she paints. While painting from memory, she did her first trees and landscapes in high school art classes. Through the years, she continued taking art classes. In the last ten years she has primarily concentrated on oil painting landscapes, cloudscapes, nature and an occasional still life. In 2002, she had the opportunity to attend a term of school in Florence, Italy, finally receiving a Bachelors in Art from Portland State University in 2005.
