Details: The GLEAN Program invites artists to push the boundaries of material exploration. With a stipend to support their practice and seemingly endless materials to work with, artists are encouraged to translate their existing studio practice with the challenge of making work with discovered discarded materials from the Metro Central Transfer Station. One of the goals of this program is to introduce established and emerging artists to the wealth of materials available to them through the GLEAN. With the ultimate goal to reduce waste and raise awareness with this program, no prior experience with discarded materials is required.

The “Rules”:

01. – Ninety-five percent of each piece must be created from materials gleaned from the transfer station.

02. – Each artist is paid a $2,000 stipend upon successful completion of the program.

03. – Each artist receives 80% commission from the sale of their art at the exhibition.

04. – Applicants must be a resident of Multnomah, Washington, or Clackamas counties. (i.e., residency of artists): “county.”
