Chapel Theatre presents “A Taste of Dance”
October 9, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Friday, repeating until October 24, 2020
Chapel Theatre presents
A Taste of Dance
Fridays, October 2, 9, 16, and 23, 7 pm
As part of the Winter Performance Series in collaboration with the Milwaukie Arts Committee, this event has moved to an online version. Audience members will pick up their four bottles of wine during the last week in September, and each video will be released on Fridays through October. Audiences then can open their paired wine with each week’s dance video and enjoy the wine with the performance!
Audiences MUST register in advance for this event (by September 18 if you are participating in the wine portion of the event). You may register in the following ways:
- Just watch videos, no wine: donation based, pay what you will.
- Watch videos and pick up wine (includes 4 bottles of wine): $45. If you have additional friends or family sharing your bottles, there’s an extra $10 charge (on the honor system).
- Pick up locations will be determined once we have an idea of where people live. One location will be Chapel Theatre.
- NOTE: We can NOT ship wine, so only local participation available for the wine portion.
October 2: TriptheDark Dance Company will showcase three pieces reflecting the experience many of us have had the past six months. From Covid19 and quarantine to the Black Lives Matter movement and local protests to the emotional journey many of us have gone through in conjunction with these major, life altering issues. The three pieces will reflect one aspect of this radical time we are living in.
October 9: Jana Zahler, Patsy Morris, and Daniel Considine will perform a Modern dance work called “Be” that explores three defined characters seen as a lady bug, a bumble bee, and a flower. This is a seedling of a larger full-length production which explores our relationship with ourselves, each other, and the earth in a relatable, light-hearted yet heavy way. Conceptually, their journey shows the cycle of connection/disconnection, imbalance/balance, life/death, and how these are all cyclical. This work is geared for young folks and adult audiences alike.
October 16: Jeff George will be exploring an empowerment theme through hip hop dance.
October 23: Angela Mazziotta is truly diving into the theme of this performance series and developing a contemporary piece in collaboration with the notes and impressions of the chosen wine pairing. This piece will focus on inspiration from the Black Lives Matter movement and the ways complicity in systemic racism and white supremacy are baked into every industry.
