Yay for in-person poetry readings again! The 2022 First Fridays events will run through October. Starting on Friday, September 2, our 2022 First Friday poetry readings and open mics will continue in-person and on Zoom. These events are co-sponsored by the Milwaukie Poetry Series and St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church.
This event with be in person at Milwaukie Floral & Garden, 3306 SE Lake Rd. This is a new location and is approximately a half mile east of downtown Milwaukie on Lake Rd. It will also be a virtual event on Zoom.
Featured Readers are Community Leaders. Readers so far are Milwaukie City Councilors Lisa Batey, Kathy Hyzy and Adam Khosroabadi and St. John the Evangelist Rector Jeanne Kaliszewski. They will be reading their own work or their favorite poets for about 35 minutes. There may be additional Featured Readers. The reading will be followed by an Open Mic.
The Open Mic will follow the reading.
Email Tom Hogan at [email protected] to register for the event. Please indicate if you want to read during the Open Mic. You will receive a Zoom link prior to the event.
Anyone who would like to participate in the Open Mic is welcome. Plan to read up 1 or 2 poems. We will have another round of poems if time permits, depending on the number of participants and length of the poems. The event will be recorded and available for viewing on demand on the Ledding Library YouTube Channel after the event.
Please call Tom Hogan at 503.819.8367 or e-mail him at [email protected] with any questions about this event or the Series.
