On the heels of Sandy Actors Theatre’s sensational season opener Dead to the Last Drop and through the generosity of Clackamas County Bank, the American holiday classic Miracle on 34th Street will grace the theatre’s stage every weekend beginning the day after Thanksgiving.
A Christmas present tied up with a red ribbon and answers the age-old question, “Is there a Santa Claus?” This beloved American holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940’s radio broadcast. It is the timeless story of an old man who calls himself Kris Kringle and is hired as the Macy’s department store Santa. His claim to be the real Santa Claus becomes a court case and a young child’s belief could make all the difference. “Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to.”
When audiences enter each of the thirteen performances, they will be transported back in time to a 1940’s radio studio equipped with chrome microphones, an applause sign, a foley table, and snappy jingles. And, for fans of 1985’s “Goonies,” Portland’s own Curt Hanson, who played Troy’s millionaire father, Mr. Perkins, will be our Kris Kringle.
