Earlean has been a member of the gallery and has shown her work several times. She has a large following that appreciates her work. Come and take a look at her beautiful water colors!
About Earlean: The challenge of preserving in watercolor the fragile beauty of flowers has been my main goal the last five years. It’s also a way of prolonging summer beauty and personal memories from flowers given by friends. I tend to keep things and this is a way of saving something concrete from a very specific moment in time. There’s so much beauty around, especially if you narrow your focus and get close. Sometimes the beauty is in water or the way the light is striking objects.
I like the unpredictability of mixing colors wet in wet as well as more controlled linear details on dry paper. Vivid colors and dramatic details increase my enjoyment. Oils, pastels, even china paint are too predictable to currently hold my interest.
As a former high school art and drama teacher, I’ve taught lots of different classes from drawing to designs. Now that I’m retired I have the leisure of painting three or four days a week and taking workshops and classes during the day. I like to achieve balance by taking classes from instructors that are completely opposite in styles and methods.
About The Spiral Gallery: Nestled in the Clackamas River valley of the Cascade foothills, the Spiral Gallery houses art as varied as the artists that create it—from Watercolor to Oil, Wood to Metal, Jewelry to Sculpture and Functional Pottery. Established in October 2002, The Spiral Gallery features diverse and original artwork made by local artists living in and around Estacada, Oregon.
