SUMMARY:The Look Back Lecture Series: Oregon City's Chinese Expulsion
DESCRIPTION:During the late 1800s\, anti-Chinese discrimination was on the rise in Oregon. This was fueled by the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882\, which banned Chinese immigration to the United States. On February 22\, 1886\, 40 men forced Chinese workers out of Oregon City and onto a steamboat to Portland. The group blamed Chinese laborers for taking jobs from White workers during hard economic times. Join Oregon Historical Quarterly-published author Jim Nicita for a compelling lecture exploring these injustices and the enduring history and legacy of Oregon City’s Chinese community. Discover the stories that have too often been overlooked and gain new insight into the city’s past. \nYou can see this presentation on Thursday\, December 11\, 2025\, at 7PM. \nAdmission is FREE for Clackamas County residents\, thanks to the Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program! For non-Clackamas County residents\, admission is $10 for Members\, $20 for Non-Members. \nFor more information and updates\, visit our website at clackamashistory.org.

SUMMARY:Miracle On 34th Street
DESCRIPTION:Set in New York City\, Miracle on 34th Street\, the play is a heartwarming holiday classic that follows the journey of Kris Kringle (Robert Lovitz)\, an older man released from a retirement home\, who gets a job working as Santa Claus for Macy’s holiday season. \nDoris Walker (Ariel Puls)\, a single mother who works at the same Macy’s\, doesn’t want her daughter\, Susan (Georgia Krugel)\, to believe in any romantic notions about Santa. Complications arise when neighbor and lawyer Fred Gayley (Conor Eifler) tries to win Doris over by taking Susan to see Santa Claus. Young Susan is enchanted by the experience\, but Doris remains doubtful. Kris surprises both customers and employees by claiming he truly is Santa Claus and begins directing parents to other stores to find the specific toy their child wants. \nSeen as deluded and dangerous by Sawyer (Jacob Bean-Watson)\, Macy’s vocational counselor\, Kris faces a court hearing overseen by Judge Harper (Mark Schwahn) to verify the validity of his claim and\, more importantly\, his authenticity. But what is truly at stake is one little girl’s belief in Santa and her mother’s willingness to give love another chance. \nThe talented ensemble features John T. Aney\, Dan Bahr\, Danny Caputo\, Caitlin Clarke\, Colleen Crabtree\, AJ Ericson\, William Francis\, Vicki Guthrie\, LeRoy Lee\, Sam Levi\, Wendy A.K. May\, Tom Mounsey\, Madelyn Moyes\, Gary Powell\, Melissa Standley\, RJ Tofte\, Jeffrey Weir\, and Selma Whitman. \nMiracle on 34th Street\, the Play is directed by Karlyn Love\, the Stage Manager is Grant M.
