DESCRIPTION:Stairwell Gallery: Polly Zagone’s Textiles \nMonth of October\, all open hours \nThis October\, the Stairwell Gallery will showcase the richly textured textile works of Polly Zagone\, a self-taught artist whose lifelong devotion to stitching\, fabric\, and handcrafted detail transforms everyday materials into vibrant\, dimensional art. Drawing on decades of experience as a cabinetmaker\, woodworker\, and theater craftsperson\, Zagone layers hand dyed fabrics and found objects into pieces with bold colors and designs. Her custom wood hangers and hand braided Kumihimo cords add further depth and craftsmanship to each piece. \nThis exhibition will be on view throughout October during regular library hours. DESCRIPTION:HYBRID: Third Tuesday Author: Crystal Chanel \nTuesday\, October 20\, 5:30 – 6:30 pm \nCrystal Chanel is a storyteller\, emcee\, poet\, and marketing strategist whose work intersects purpose and cultural power. As the founder and CEO of Press Release Marketing\, LLC\, she amplifies brands through intentional strategy and bold\, culturally aligned storytelling. \nHer debut poetry collection\, Daughter of the Diaspora\, blends personal reflection with historical insight to explore identity\, resilience\, and the lived experience of Black womanhood in America. Influenced by a global perspective—from living in East Germany as a teenager to serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and a passion for domestic and international travel—Crystal’s writing celebrates Black culture\, community\, and voice. \nThis author program will be moderated by Bruce Poinsette\, writer\, digital storyteller and organizer whose work is primarily based in the Portland Metro Area. A former reporter for the Skanner News Group\, his writing has also appeared in the Oregonian\, Street Roots\, Oregon Humanities\, and Eater PDX\, among other publications. His current project Black Oregon POV seeks to build a digital green book for Black Oregonians. \nThis program is supported by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library. Participation is free\, and no registration is required. Please note\, seating is limited due to the size of the space. Seats will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis.
