DESCRIPTION:“Drag Me Outside” is a Portland based hiking group that merges queer community\, education\, and nature\, led by drag performers and environmental scientists Thespis D. Light (he/him) and Efemmera Gendera (she/they). Wilsonville Parks and Recreation is partnering with “Drag Me Outside” to host two FREE nature walks during Wilsonville Pride weekend\, June 13 & 14. These will be low-impact hikes\, roughly 1.5-2 miles in Wilsonville Memorial Park and will use drag as a means of reconnecting people with nature\, learning about our non-human neighbors\, and building community. No dogs please. While children are allowed\, please be aware that some adult humor and language may be used\, please use your own parental discretion. Students will learn the basics of cutting and layering glass while creating their own wearable art or bright\, colorful sun-catchers.\n\nDesign up to 5 pieces of jewelry (like pendants\, earrings\, rings or pins) or create 2 summer-inspired sun-catchers: think sunshine\, flowers\, beachy vibes\, and bold pops of color. Whether you love tiny detailed pieces or something that catches the light in your window\, there’s plenty of room to get creative.\n\nNo experience needed\, just bring your imagination!\n\nAll materials and instruction are included. Finished pieces will be kiln-fired and ready for pickup at city hall within a few weeks of class.
