SUMMARY:Natural History Book Group
DESCRIPTION:The Natural History Book Group was founded on the recognition that Indigenous peoples have maintained a deep and reciprocal relationship with the land now known as Lake Oswego for millennia\, the group acknowledges this history as an essential grounding for its work. Through participant-selected readings that focus on Traditional Ecological Knowledge\, members explore how literature and nonfiction can deepen our understanding of the watershed and its indigenous history\, while inspiring practical steps toward a more just relationship with both the land we call home and its original caretakers. \nLed by the Oswego Lake Watershed Council\, this group meets bi-monthly on the second Tuesday of every other month (January\, March\, May\, July\, September\, and November) at 5:00pm. We meet at the Lake Oswego Public Library in the second-floor conference room. SUMMARY:The Before-Hours Teen Book Club
DESCRIPTION:The Before-Hours Teen Book Club is an informal book hangout for teens who enjoy reading on their own terms. On the second Sunday of each month\, they will gather at the Library an hour before it opens and snack with their peers while sharing info and excerpts from their best recent reads. \nDesigned for 9th to 12th graders. There’s no sign-up necessary. Come snack\, chat\, and bring the title of a book you’d like to recommend to the group! \nDue to the special nature of this program\, teens will be admitted between 11:40 am and noon via the north entrance to the Library adjacent to the parking lot.
