SUMMARY:Divination: The Myth of White Tea
DESCRIPTION:A white tea tasting\nStep into the world of white tea\, where quiet elegance meets untamed grace. Though often overlooked in the West\, this tea reveals a striking range from the honeyed richness of aged leaves to the tender floral and fresh green notes of younger expressions. Through mindful brewing and tasting\, we will explore how white tea embodies both delicacy and strength\, and how its spirit reflects tea’s gift of calm presence. \nThis gathering is offered with a suggested contribution of $35. To keep the experience inclusive and balanced\, you are invited to contribute what feels right for you\, whether that is $35\, $25\, or more if you are able. Offering above the suggested amount helps support those with financial need and ensures that spaces like this can continue to flourish. Every contribution\, whether financial or energetic\, affirms the value of community supported learning and sustains the care poured into this work. \nWe also recognize the systemic barriers that have historically restricted access for BIPOC communities. In acknowledgment of this\, we offer a $15 option for BIPOC participants who would benefit from it. This is one way we are committed to fostering equity and ensuring diversity is not just welcomed but essential to the richness of the experience. \nIf the set prices still feel out of reach\, please reach out directly. I am always open to working with you so that tea remains accessible to all who feel called to share in it. \nAll are welcome here. You are invited to arrive as you are and take part in a space rooted in care\, openness\, and community\, where each presence is honored and where we grow together through the living\, breathing beauty of tea. \nTo nurture a mindful and welcoming environment\, we ask participants to be attentive to sensory sensitivities by avoiding strong fragrances. This space is held with gentle awareness\, where we respect both our own needs and those of others. By arriving with openness\, care\, and respect for each person’s boundaries\, we cultivate a shared atmosphere where tea\, meditation\, and belonging can thrive together. \nIn the spirit of reciprocity and uplifting community together\, five dollars from each participant will be donated to Q Center\, a nonprofit that supports LGBTQ2SIA+ communities through advocacy\, resources\, and safe spaces\, embodying tea’s spirit of connection\, reflection\, healing\, and belonging. \nLeading this offering is D’Guar (they/them)\, a trans person of color\, tea practitioner\, and community connector based in Portland\, Oregon. D’Guar’s path with tea has been one of devotion\, curiosity\, and mindfulness\, centering the spirit of Camellia sinensis as a guide. Through their work\, Water Fairy Tea\, they create welcoming environments where tea is experienced as a teacher\, opening doorways to stillness\, reflection\, and shared care. Their approach weaves education with heart\, inviting participants to encounter tea as a partner in self awareness\, community belonging\, and attunement with nature. \nWe acknowledge that this work takes place on the traditional lands of the Multnomah\, Clackamas\, Chinook\, Kathlamet\, Tualatin Kalapuya\, Molalla\, and many other Indigenous ancestors and communities. We honor their enduring presence\, care\, and wisdom\, and offer gratitude to the land and to the people who have tended it since time immemorial.
