Viewers are invited to stay after the screening to engage in a moderated group discussion about the themes and message of the film. \nThis screening is part of the Lake Oswego Public Library’s World Cinema Series\, scheduled the last Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm to showcase diverse international films. DESCRIPTION:The Clackamas Arts Alliance\, Milwaukie Poetry Series\, and St. John the Evangelist Episcopal church are delighted to host the Poetry Contest Winners Reading and Open Mic on Friday\, June 5\, 2026. \nThe reading will be part of the June 5\, 2026 First Friday in Milwaukie and will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the meeting room at St. John the Evangelist church.at 2036 SE Jefferson St. The Featured Readers will be the winners of the Writing Contest sponsored by the Clackamas Arts Alliance. The winners will be reading their winning poems from the contest. The event will also be available virtually on Zoom. \n The Awards presentation will be hosted by Oregon Poet Laureate Emerita Paulann Petersen.  \nShe has eight full-length books of poetry\, most recently My Kindred from Salmon Poetry of Ireland. Her poems have appeared in many journals and anthologies\, including Poetry\, The Birmingham Review\, Prairie Schooner\, Orion\, Catamaran\, Wilderness Magazine\, the Internet’s Poetry Daily\, and POETRY IN MOTION\, which put poems on Portland\, Oregon buses and light rail cars. A former Stegner Fellow at Stanford University\, she’s the recipient of the Holbrook Award from Oregon Literary Arts\, and from Willamette Writers both a Distinguished Northwest Writer Award and a Legacy Award.  \nThen there will be the Open Mic for all who wish to read their own work or share some of their favorite poems. DESCRIPTION:The Natural History Book Group was founded on the recognition that Indigenous peoples have maintained a deep and reciprocal relationship with the land now known as Lake Oswego for millennia\, the group acknowledges this history as an essential grounding for its work. SUMMARY:Bring Your Own (BYO) Mystery Book Group
DESCRIPTION:This event repeats every month on the last Thursday of each month\, \n\n\n\n\nJoin us the last Thursday of the month for a casual mystery book group. There will be no assigned books\, just time to share and discuss a mystery book that you’ve read with fellow mystery book enthusiasts. \nMeeting in the library conference room. DESCRIPTION:This event repeats every month on the third Thursday. \n\n\n\n\nJoin fellow poetry lovers for a monthly meet-up to read and discuss poetry in a supportive environment. Feel free to read a poem of your own or one written by a published author that you’d like to share. This group meets on the third Thursday of the month in the conference room on the second floor of the library. Meetings will include time for introductions\, poetry readings\, organic discussion\, and resource sharing. Light refreshments will be available.
