SUMMARY:Miracle On 34th Street
DESCRIPTION:Set in New York City\, Miracle on 34th Street\, the play is a heartwarming holiday classic that follows the journey of Kris Kringle (Robert Lovitz)\, an older man released from a retirement home\, who gets a job working as Santa Claus for Macy’s holiday season. \nDoris Walker (Ariel Puls)\, a single mother who works at the same Macy’s\, doesn’t want her daughter\, Susan (Georgia Krugel)\, to believe in any romantic notions about Santa. Complications arise when neighbor and lawyer Fred Gayley (Conor Eifler) tries to win Doris over by taking Susan to see Santa Claus. Young Susan is enchanted by the experience\, but Doris remains doubtful. Kris surprises both customers and employees by claiming he truly is Santa Claus and begins directing parents to other stores to find the specific toy their child wants. \nSeen as deluded and dangerous by Sawyer (Jacob Bean-Watson)\, Macy’s vocational counselor\, Kris faces a court hearing overseen by Judge Harper (Mark Schwahn) to verify the validity of his claim and\, more importantly\, his authenticity. But what is truly at stake is one little girl’s belief in Santa and her mother’s willingness to give love another chance. \nThe talented ensemble features John T. DESCRIPTION:Kimberly Moreland serves as the President of the Oregon Black Pioneers\, whose mission is to preserve the history of Black Oregonians. On behalf of the Oregon Black Pioneers\, she authored Images of America: African Americans of Portland. \nKimberly began documenting Portland’s Black history as a city planner with the City of Portland. She worked with the community advisory committee and local historians to produce History of Portland’s African American History (1805 to the Present). Moreland assisted the City of Portland in successfully listing five historic buildings significant to Portland’s African American history.\nThis program is supported by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library and offered by Lake Oswego Public Library in cooperation with Lake Theater & Cafe. Admission is free and no ticket is required (though food and drink purchases are encouraged to offset the cost to Lake Theater). Doors open at 6:30pm\, the presentation begins at 7:00pm.\nLake Theater & Cafe is located at 106 N. State Street in Lake Oswego. DESCRIPTION:Introduction to the 5 major tea types and ceremonial tea.\nJoin us for an introduction to the five major types of tea; green\, white\, oolong\, black\, and dark tea. Together we will explore the origins of Camellia sinensis\, trace its history and cultural roots\, and experience the art of gongfu ceremonial tea service. This class is an invitation to step into the magic\, wonder\, and devotion that tea inspires\, while learning how its many expressions continue to connect us to the natural world and our human nature. \nThis gathering is offered with a suggested contribution of $35. In the spirit of inclusivity and balance\, you are welcome to offer what feels right for you\, whether that is $35\, $25\, or more if you have the means. Contributions above the suggested amount help make this experience accessible to those with financial need and sustain the ongoing care and energy poured into holding spaces like this. Every offering\, whether financial or energetic\, affirms the value of community supported education. \nWe also acknowledge the systemic barriers that have long limited access for BIPOC communities. To honor this\, a $15 option is available for BIPOC participants who would benefit from it. This is one way we commit to equity\, ensuring that diversity is not only welcomed but integral to the richness of the experience. \nIf the listed prices are still a barrier\, please reach out directly. I am more than willing to work with you to ensure that tea remains within reach for all who feel called to share in it. \nAll are welcome here. By showing up with openness\, care\, and respect for each other’s boundaries\, we create a collective meditative atmosphere where\, tea\, and community belonging can flourish. \nIn the spirit of reciprocity and uplifting community together\, five dollars from each participant will be donated to Q Center\, a nonprofit that supports LGBTQ2SIA+ communities through advocacy\, resources\, and safe spaces\, embodying tea’s spirit of connection\, reflection\, healing\, and belonging. \nThis class is led by D’Guar (they/them)\, a trans person of color\, tea guide\, and community builder based in Portland\, Oregon. D’Guar has devoted their path to exploring the spirit of Camellia sinensis through mindful practice\, storytelling\, and connection. Through their project Water Fairy Tea\, they create spaces where tea becomes a bridge between nature\, presence\, and belonging. Their offerings weave education with devotion\, inviting participants to meet tea not only as a beverage\, but as a living companion in self discovery and community care with nature and the world around. \nWe acknowledge that this work takes place on the traditional lands of the Multnomah\, Clackamas\, Chinook\, Kathlamet\, Tualatin\, Kalapuya\, Molalla\, and many other Indigenous ancestors and communities. DESCRIPTION:At this year’s North Pole pageant\, Dottie is crowned “Best Elf” and in her speech remembers how it all began. Through flash-back\, we see how Dottie the witch arrived at the North Pole to take back Christmas – something she had loaned to Santa for a couple thousand years. Now she wants it back\, expecting that with it\, she might finally get a life full of love and acceptance – just as Santa does. But\, the threat of losing Christmas makes the elves reject this scary witch – that is\, until Peppermint Bear uncovers what Dottie truly wants most and the elves teach her how easy it is to get it – without taking Christmas away. The story flashes-forward and everyone celebrates Dottie’s win\, happy to have her part of the Christmas family at the North Pole. \nThe Peppermint Bear show is a classic at Lakewood Theatre Company and it’s perfect for families and full of holiday cheer. Each year a new 45-minute episode is presented. A light continental breakfast with rolls\, muffins\, donuts\, fruit etc and juice\, and coffee is provided. It’s a show that is perfect for ages 3-103. Doors open 20 minutes before each show.

SUMMARY:Rain Spark Gallery Holiday Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Rain Spark Gallery is a seasonal gallery of artists that inhabit different locations in Lake Oswego each holiday season. This is the third year that rain Spark Gallery has partnered with the Lakewood Center for the Arts in the Dee Denton Gallery. The Rain Spark Gallery will be open to the public November 25 through December 23 during Lakewood Center 11:00am-7:00pm and before and after theatre performances. https://lakewood-center.org/

SUMMARY:Peppermint Bear Asks Witch Way To Christmas?
DESCRIPTION:At this year’s North Pole pageant\, Dottie is crowned “Best Elf” and in her speech remembers how it all began. Through flash-back\, we see how Dottie the witch arrived at the North Pole to take back Christmas – something she had loaned to Santa for a couple thousand years. Now she wants it back\, expecting that with it\, she might finally get a life full of love and acceptance – just as Santa does. But\, the threat of losing Christmas makes the elves reject this scary witch – that is\, until Peppermint Bear uncovers what Dottie truly wants most and the elves teach her how easy it is to get it – without taking Christmas away. The story flashes-forward and everyone celebrates Dottie’s win\, happy to have her part of the Christmas family at the North Pole. \nThe Peppermint Bear show is a classic at Lakewood Theatre Company and it’s perfect for families and full of holiday cheer. Each year a new 45-minute episode is presented. A light continental breakfast with rolls\, muffins\, donuts\, fruit etc and juice\, and coffee is provided. It’s a show that is perfect for ages 3-103. Doors open 20 minutes before each show.
