SUMMARY:Hypnosis: The Myth of Black Tea
DESCRIPTION:Descend deep into black tea. Bold\, grounding\, and full of sweet mystery\, each cup brings spiraling presence and comforting stillness. \nDrift into the world of black tea\, where warmth and stillness intertwine. In this guided tasting\, we will explore several black teas through mindful brewing\, comparing their unique expressions and stories that span regions and traditions. Together\, we’ll move through a spiral of sensations that invite grounding\, reflection\, and deeper connection to the present moment. \nThis gathering is offered with a suggested contribution of $35. In the spirit of inclusivity and balance\, you are welcome to offer what feels right for you\, whether that is $35\, $25\, or more if you have the means. Contributions above the suggested amount help make this experience accessible to those with financial need and sustain the ongoing care and energy poured into holding spaces like this. Every offering\, whether financial or energetic\, affirms the value of community supported education. \nWe also acknowledge the systemic barriers that have long limited access for BIPOC communities. To honor this\, a $15 option is available for BIPOC participants who would benefit from it. This is one way we commit to equity\, ensuring that diversity is not only welcomed but integral to the richness of the experience. \nIf the listed prices are still a barrier\, please reach out directly. We are more than willing to work with you to ensure that tea remains within reach for all who feel called to share in it. \nAll are welcome here. You are invited to arrive exactly as you are and take part in a space rooted in openness\, care\, and community\, a living space where each presence is honored and where we grow together through the deep\, transformative beauty of tea. \nTo help us hold a mindful and welcoming space\, we ask participants to be considerate of sensory sensitivities by avoiding strong fragrances. This is a space of gentle awareness\, where we honor our own needs as well as those of others. By showing up with openness\, care\, and respect for each other’s boundaries\, we create a collective atmosphere where meditation\, tea\, and queer belonging can flourish together. \nIn the spirit of reciprocity and uplifting community together\, five dollars from each participant will be donated to Q Center\, a nonprofit that supports LGBTQ2SIA+ communities through advocacy\, resources\, and safe spaces\, embodying tea’s spirit of connection\, reflection\, healing\, and belonging. \nThis gathering is guided by D’Guar (they/them)\, a trans person of color\, tea guide\, and community weaver rooted in Portland\, Oregon. Their journey has been dedicated to exploring the depth and spirit of Camellia sinensis through mindful practice\, story\, and shared ritual. Through Water Fairy Tea\, they cultivate spaces where tea becomes a bridge into presence\, nature\, and belonging. Their offerings blend learning with reverence\, inviting participants to meet tea not just as a drink\, but as a living companion in personal discovery\, collective care\, and connection with the natural world.

SUMMARY:Chapel Theatre presents: Mr Burns\, A Post-Electric Play
DESCRIPTION:by Anne Washburn\nScore by Michael Friedman\nLyrics by Anne Washburn \nDirector: Illya deTorres\nChoreographer: Corinn deTorres\nMusic Director: James Liptak\nStage Manager: Amanda Healy\nLighting Designer: Dug Martell\nCostume Designer: MK Hobson \nCast:\nBonnie Auguston\nCristian Villaquiran\nIllya deTorres\nJessica Curtiss\nMagnolia Brown\nMatt Sunderland\nMishelle Apalategui \nAnne Washburn’s imaginative dark comedy – a play with music featuring songs by Washburn and Michael Friedman – propels us forward nearly a century\, following a new civilization stumbling into its future. \nAfter the collapse of civilization\, a group of survivors share a campfire and begin to piece together the plot of The Simpsons episode “Cape Feare” entirely from memory. Seven years later\, this and other snippets of pop culture (sitcom plots\, commercials\, jingles and pop songs) have become the live entertainment of a post-apocalyptic society\, sincerely trying to hold onto its past. Seventy-five years later\, these are the myths and legends from which new forms of performance are created. \nA paean to live theater\, and the resilience of Bart Simpson through the ages\, Mr. Burns is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.

SUMMARY:Makers & Creative Artists Workshops | Writing Artist Statement with Intention
DESCRIPTION:Join the Clackamas Arts Alliance along with artist and Arts Alliance Board of Directors Member\, Susan Schenk\, for a workshop on writing compelling artist statements. \nAn artist’s statement tells others about you and your work. Writing one is a powerful exercise for articulating your passion and art. But it is also a challenge to capture in words what is often so hard to express and intangible. No matter your medium or level of proficiency\, a good statement is a useful tool. \nIn this workshop\, you will be guided through a series of questions to gather information to create a sophisticated artist’s statement\, and to deepen your thinking about your own art making. If you are happy with your current artist’s statement\, then write a statement for the fabulous artist you aspire to be\, so that you can set that intention into the universe. Or\, answer the questions as preparation for when you are interviewed for a national artist’s publication. \nUPCOMING WORKSHOP: \nWHEN: Saturday\, November 15\, 2025 | 2:00 – 3:30 PM \nWHERE: Oregon City Public Library\, Community Room \nCOST: Free! Donations are welcome at registration to continue supporting events like these. \nQuestions? Contact: Ariella-Sophie Sternberg ariella-sophie@clackamasartsalliance.org or call 503-655-0525 with any questions. \nREGISTER HERE \nPRESENTER: Susan Schenk is a late-in-life artist who specializes in mixed media\, but also explores many visual art forms. Here’s one of her artist statements: \nMy art is an invitation to see beyond the apparent. From a distance\, my collages appear to be paintings. Up close\, they are complicated jumbles of separate parts\, somewhat surprising when inspected more intimately. \nMy use of discarded materials as paint fosters the idea of finding beauty in the overlooked. I discover line\, color and form hidden in what others toss away. By transforming magazines\, maps and other ephemera into appealing images\, I leave a small carbon footprint and more importantly\, carve out a trail of enjoyment for others to travel.

What could possibly go wrong? \n“With a talented cast\, incredible choreography\, and a set design that will transport you straight into the Addams’ world\, this show will be an experience you won’t forget\,” says Taylor Miller\, Artistic Director of Krayon Kids. \nTickets Available: September 5th at KrayonKids.org

Purchases benefit the regional artists and craftspeople in the show as well as acting as a fundraiser for arts & community programming at ACLO. Events such as Holiday Marketplace connect residents to local artists and makers\, and help keep discretionary spending within the local economy. \nArtspace is open Tuesday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10am – 2pm. If you’re interested in more information on the exhibition\, please reach out to us at artscouncillo@gmail.com.
