Milwaukie Arts Committee Seeking Performers for
May 7, 14, 21, 6 – 8 pm
Milwaukie Porchfest will return this spring for three more evenings of music, from 6-8 pm on Fridays, May 7-21. Anyone with a performing talent – singers, guitar players, youth performers, actors, dancers – is invited to participate by performing from their porch, driveway or front yard.
Based on your feedback, they’re expanding Porchfest 2021 to two hours of music, giving performers the choice of one of the 45-to-60 minute slots, and giving concert-goers more time to move around the city.
If you would like to participate in Porchfest, email the Milwaukie Arts Committee at [email protected] with your address, performing talent, and which nights and time slots you would like to perform (6-7 pm or 7-8 pm May 7, 14 or 21.) Participants will receive a Porchfest yard sign and door hangers (to tell your neighbors about your upcoming performance) while supplies last.
Please also reach out via email if you are a performer who needs a porch, or a property owner who has a performance space to offer.
More information about live-streamed concerts and featured performances will be announced soon. There will also be a Google map of Porchfest locations that will be available at milwaukieporchfest.com.
Porchfest encourages residents to walk or bike their neighborhoods, meet their neighbors and share their talents with the community – all while staying socially distanced on their own porches.
Because traditional concerts are not possible during the pandemic, these short, informal concerts – decentralized across the city – encourage people to keep moving and enjoy an outdoor experience.
Last fall, Porchfest 2020 included 84 mini-concerts throughout Milwaukie over four Fridays. Performers included bagpipers, an improv troupe, several rock bands, two brass quintets, and an outdoor drag show.
Milwaukie Porchfest is made possible through financial contributions from the city’s Neighborhood District Associations.
