SUMMARY:Pints from the Past: Japanese American History
DESCRIPTION:Join us for another Pints from the Past Program at the Lake Theater & Cafe. This month’s discussion is presented by the Japanese American Museum of Oregon. Marleen Wallingford\, a Sansei (third generation Japanese American)\, will talk about the treatment of Japanese immigrants in the 1940s. Her extended family\, without a trial\, were incarcerated in prison camps in 1942.\nThis program is aligned with One Book\, One Coast\, a multi-state community reading initiative that invites readers to engage with ideas and concepts from the book\, They Called Us Enemy\, by George Takei. Details about One Book\, One Coast and other opportunities to participate can be found on the LINCC website.\nThis event is made possible through the sponsorship of the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library\, and is presented in cooperation with the Lake Theater & Cafe. Admission is free and no ticket is required (though food and drink purchases are encouraged to offset the cost to the Lake Theater). Doors open at 6:30 pm\, and the presentation begins at 7:00 pm.Lake Theater & Cafe is located at 106 North State Street\, Lake Oswego. For more information\, contact Joshua Macias at 503-675-2535 or jmacias@lakeoswego.city.
