DESCRIPTION:The Natural History Book Group\, led by the Oswego Lake Watershed Council\, meets at the Lake Oswego Public Library. The club welcomes new members at its bimonthly meetings on the second Tuesday of every other month (January\, March\, May\, July\, September\, and November) in the Library Meeting Room on the 2nd floor. \nThe Natural History Book Group was founded on the recognition that Indigenous peoples have maintained a deep and reciprocal relationship with the land now known as Lake Oswego for millennia. The group acknowledges this history as an essential grounding for its work. Through participant-selected readings that focus on Traditional Ecological Knowledge\, members explore how literature and nonfiction can deepen our understanding of the watershed and its Indigenous history\, while inspiring practical steps toward a more just relationship with both the land we call home and its original caretakers. \nIn March\, join the conversation about Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley by David G. DESCRIPTION:The Before-Hours Teen Book Club – An Informal Book Hangout \nSunday\, March 8\, 12:00 – 1:00pm (lower level) \nThe Before-Hours Teen Book Club is an informal book hangout for teens who enjoy reading on their own terms. Instead of reading a specific title together each month\, teens will read whatever they like\, such as graphic novels\, poetry\, biographies\, cookbooks\, romantasy\, etc. On the second Sunday of each month\, they will gather at the Library an hour before it opens and snack with their peers while sharing info about and excerpts from their best recent reads. \nThis month we will be handing out copies of the LO Reads novel Tilt\, by Emma Pattee\, which will be discussed at April’s Before-Hours Teen Book Club. \nDesigned for 9th to 12th graders. There’s no sign-up necessary. Come snack\, chat\, and bring the title of a book you’d like to recommend to the group! \nDue to the special nature of this program\, teens will be admitted between 11:40 am and noon via the north entrance to the Library adjacent to the parking lot. Lake Oswego resident John Nilsen will present a free live concert on the first Tuesday of the month at Lake Oswego Public Library. Known for his versatile style\, Nilsen masterfully blends classical\, jazz\, and rock genres\, captivating listeners with every note. In addition to being a brilliant pianist\, he is also a gifted singer-songwriter. \nThis program is supported by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library. Admission is free and no tickets are required. DESCRIPTION:Stairwell Gallery: The Silk Paintings of Lê Trung Chính\nMonth of February\, all open hours\nThe Silk Paintings of Lê Trung Chính features works by the Vietnamese-born artist known for his luminous paintings on white silk. Using the traditional Serti method\, he outlines forms with a water-resistant medium before applying fabric dyes that are permanently set through steaming\, resulting in vivid color and fluid\, expressive lines unique to silk painting. His work focuses on people and shared human experiences\, drawing deeply from Vietnamese heritage and portraying scenes of daily life\, relationships\, and social themes.\nThe exhibition will be on view throughout February during regular library hours.
