The Arts Alliance has launched a workshop series to promote creativity among our local artists, writers, and performers!
Graphic Flash Memoir Workshop with Leanne Grabel
Wednesday, September 18
6 – 8 pm
Providence Willamette Falls Community Center
Write a short lyrical memoir rife with detail and precision, from which one detail will be illustrated. Writers will capture the poignancy and details of a significant memory in the fewest words possible. Conciseness and clarity will rule in this workshop. Those who do not consider themselves adept at drawing are welcome!
Leanne Grabel, M.Ed., is a writer, illustrator, performer, and special education teacher (almost retired). Currently, Grabel is teaching graphic flash memoir to adults throughout the Pacific Northwest. In love with mixing genres, Grabel has written and produced numerous spoken-word multi-media shows, published several poetry books including a collection of graphic prose poems, and just completed an illustrated stretched memoir. She and her husband Steve Sander are the founders of Café Lena, Portland’s legendary poetry hub of the 90s.
