“Settlers of Canby” Movie Night at Mark Prairie School
Join us for a special viewing of the 80-minute oral history film, Settlers of Canby, created by local filmmaker Gordon Christiansen, filmed at the historic Harms Homestead.
This engaging roundtable discussion, facilitated by Mallory Gwynn, features six descendants of local pioneer families sharing their memories of growing up in the rural Macksburg, Gribble, and Mark Prairie areas. It is a rare opportunity to hear first-hand stories that bring our community’s history to life.
This film was made four years ago, right after the terrible ice storm. It was a dream of Frank Cutsforth who unfortunately never got to see the finished product, and features Doc Harms, also no longer with us. Thanks to Gordon Christiansen & Mallory Gwynn and of course the wonderful folks who shared their stories. Afterward, copies of the movie will be for sale as a fundraiser for Mark Prairie School.
Don’t miss this chance to connect with the voices of Canby’s past and celebrate our shared heritage.
