Pints from the Past: Asylum and Cemetery

This month’s Pints from the Past is hosted by Norm Gholston, Preservation Program Manager at the Architectural Heritage Center of Portland and Board Member of Portland’s Chinatown Museum, on the topic of “Asylum and Cemetery – a talk about Hawthorne Asylum and the nearby Lone Fir Cemetery.” This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library.
Lone Fir Cemetery is Portland’s oldest continuously operating cemetery and many asylum patients were laid to rest there as well as Chinese Americans in a segregated Block 14 section.

This program is offered by the Lake Oswego Public Library in cooperation with the Lake Theater & Cafe. Admission is free and no ticket is required (though food and drink purchases are encouraged to offset the cost to the Lake Theater). Doors open at 6:30, the presentation begins at 7:00.
