Pints from the Past: Jazz in Portland – Beginnings to Present Day

Pints from the Past: Jazz in Portland – Beginnings to Present Day
Tuesday, March 10, 6:30 – 8:00 pm
Lake Theater & Cafe, 106 N. State Street
Author, journalist and broadcaster Lynn Darroch leads you through 80 years of jazz in Portland, focusing on its three “Golden Ages.” Using audio samples, photo illustrations, and stories about influential artists, he explains how a mid-sized city with a small African American population has supported a large and active jazz scene, shaped by environmental, economic, and social conditions.
This event is made possible through the sponsorship of the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library, and is presented in cooperation with the Lake Theater & Cafe. Admission is free and no ticket is required (though food and drink purchases are encouraged to offset the cost to the Lake Theater). Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the presentation begins at 7:00 pm.
Lake Theater & Cafe is located at 106 N. State Street, Lake Oswego. For more information, contact Joshua Macias at 503-675-2535 or [email protected].
