CALL FOR ART | “WHAT WE (BE)HOLD”

The Arts Council of Lake Oswego’s (ACLO) Artspace gallery invites artists who reside in Lake Oswego, Portland, and the surrounding areas of Multnomah, Clackamas & Washington counties to submit their work for a juried exhibition taking place in Fall 2026. This exhibition is juried by Blackfish Gallery’s Director and founder of Common Ground Arts, Kendra Roberts. The exhibition will be on view at Artspace from August 7-October 30, 2026.

What We (Be)Hold

To behold is to perceive through sight or apprehension, to see or gaze upon, and to observe. To hold is to bear pressure of, to support, enclose or contain, to think of in a certain way, and to regard. What We (Be)Hold embraces the spirit of what holds our focused attention, wonder, admiration, or spiritual contemplation, as well as what we keep, retain, or clutch close. Artists are invited to submit work in response to ideas around what we should be holding. What are we (be)holding? What or who is holding our attention? To what or whom are we beholden? How do we hold ourselves? How do we hold one another?

*Note: If you are not sure if your work relates to this theme, whether abstractly or literally, we strongly encourage you to submit your work!

Kendra Roberts will consider works of all media including paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media, sculpture, and jewelry. Up to 3 works from each participating artist will be curated into Artspace. We have limited space available for sculptural work, so keep that in mind when considering work. To learn how to submit your work for consideration for this exhibition, be sure to review the following guidelines.
