ABOUT:
“No Words” is a body of work reckoning with the artist’s experience of aphasia and communication challenges brought on by migraine.
In these selections, dictionaries, books, and magazines are deconstructed, context destroyed, a visual metaphor for corporeal language loss ultimately encoded in how these materials take new forms, often inspired by nature’s peaks, valleys, and running rivers.
The work speaks to loss and grief but resists sentimentality, articulating new narratives of resilience.
