Learn all about the fascinating insects that live right here in the Willamette Valley! We’ll start out the class learning about the anatomy and defenses of various insects with a particular focus on some live specimens that have already been collected. Then we will paint with live Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Next,we will hunt for insects in the park and identify what we find. Some insect nets will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own. We will also learn about other methods entomologists use to collect insects including aspirators and beat sheets.
