ABOUT:

By the way, Florence is actually Firenze. My favorite architectural monuments are showcased in this exhibit. The colors are rich and dark; ochres, siennas, purples, reds, browns, and oranges, reflected by. the columns, walls, and balustrades of the city. The Duomo, is Florence’s famous cathedral named appropriately “Colors of the Renaissance, My Painting.”

Texture is also a strong and important element with its dominance of marble, stone, and tile. The marbling effect of veining is achieved by painting the back side of the Japanese watercolor paper, then, reversing to paint the main side to emphasize the spider like lines.

“Ponte Vecchio” depicts the bridge over the Arno River, painted with this method. “Pulpit in Santa Croce” is the much acclaimed altar piece in the medieval church also done with this style.
