A Bonus Reading Concluding the Season.
The Milwaukie Poetry Series is happy to conclude our Eighteenth Season
with a Bonus Reading by Don Colburn on July 9, 2025. His reading will be in the Community
Room at the Ledding Library of Milwaukie at 10660 SE Main St. In Milwaukie, OR 97222
at 6 PM. It will also be livestreamed on the Ledding Library YouTube Channel. The reading
will then be available for viewing on demand on the Ledding Library YouTube Channel.
Don Colburn came to poetry late, in the midst of a newspaper career. A longtime
reporter for The Washington Post and The Oregonian, he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize
in feature writing. He has published six poetry collections, including five chapbooks. All six
won or placed in national manuscript contests. The first was published when Don was
59 years old. His new collection is a chapbook called Purchase, which came out last
month from Finishing Line Press. Don and his wife, Nell, lived in Portland for 21 years
until late 2022, when they moved to Maine to be closer to family and lobsters. They
come back “home” to the Pacific Northwest every July to roam Old Stompin’ Grounds
in their VW Eurovan camper.
