CHERYL BUTTERFIELD

ABOUT

“This is a collection of Venetian architectural paintings.  The villas had multiple owners; many who personalized their building facades with family members’ portraits sculpted in stone….(Sentinels)  Other elements unique to Venice are canals, bridges, and water that replaces streets….

JW Turner, the British painter, painted here in 1844……He lived near the bridge (at Turners Crossing)……. Gothic arches are seen in the Windows, as well as unusual chimneys and shutters….Pastel colors present a unified palette together, the awesome pink’ color tone that permeates Venice’s air, light, and water……….”
