Call for Artist Submissions: Large Format Painting for pFriem Family Brewers Milwaukie Restaurant & Bar

pFriem Family Brewers is excited to announce an opportunity for local artists to create a commissioned painting for our “Bear’s Den” bar in our new tasting room set to open in Milwaukie, Oregon, in Spring 2025. We are looking for a painting that captures the natural beauty of the Willamette River, with a nod to the historic nature of Milwaukie.

Project Overview: The painting will be prominently displayed in The Bear’s Den, the bar and retail space located within our new restaurant located at 10501 SE Main St, Milwaukie, OR 97222. We envision an artwork that reflects the beauty of the Willamette River, with our iconic bear mascot interacting with the natural surroundings. We encourage artists to reference older images of the area, focusing on nature and avoiding modern depictions of buildings. While incorporating the historic character of Milwaukie’s firehouse (the original use of our building) is optional, it would be a welcomed nod to the site’s past. We would like this painting to resonate with the vintage-inspired landscape aesthetic of our Hood River location including our slogan “Proudly Craft. Humbly Offered”, while also allowing the artist’s own style and interpretation to shine through.

Details & Specifications Size: Approximately 8 feet by 4 feet (including frame). Medium: We are open to various paint applications as long as they provide longevity. The painting will need to be framed by the artist (frame must be approved by pFriem ahead of time). Theme: Nature-focused, with emphasis on the Willamette River, the Bear mascot, and the slogan “Proudly Crafted. Humbly Offered”. The piece should evoke a connection to both our Milwaukie and Hood River locations.

Budget: $6,000 (including material cost, framing, and installation as determined between pFriem and artist). Paid Proposal: We will select our top 2 applicants, who will be paid $300 for a sketch proposal. The final artist will be chosen based on their sketch and alignment with our vision.
