Join us for a screening of The Painter and the Thief, a Norwegian documentary about a painter who befriended the criminal who stole two of her paintings. This lesson in the art of forgiveness will be shown with English subtitles. There will be a brief introduction before the film, offering valuable cultural context. Stay after the screening to engage in a thought-provoking discussion about the film’s themes: the search for happiness, the nuances of routine, and the quiet connections that shape our lives.
The Painter and the Thief is part of the Lake Oswego Public Library’s World Cinema Series, a monthly event showcasing diverse international films. This series takes place at Lake Theater & Cafe on the last Tuesday of every month at 5:30pm. Admission is free and no ticket is required (though food and drink purchases are encouraged to offset the cost to the Lake Theater).
Can’t make it to the screening? Library patrons can also stream The Painter and the Thief on our Kanopy Streaming Service using their Lake Oswego Public Library card.
