YAC PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION
This exhibit is from the Photography Program in Partnership with Todos Juntos at the Estacada Middle School.
This exhibit will be on view from April 27th to June 6th, 2023 in the Public Services Building Lobby Gallery in Oregon City.
During the winter of 2023, our Youth Arts for Change Program collaborated with our longstanding partner, Todos Juntos, to hold an after-school photography program for students at the Estacada Middle School.
Led by teaching artist Lisa Smith, the Youth Arts for Change Program Manager, each week youth were given a theme to reflect upon: Beauty, Focus, Perspective, Construct, and Abstract. They were then to discuss and write about what each theme meant to them. In-class discussion encouraged youth to consider each theme, and how they can have meanings that are both internal and external. Using point and shoot cameras provided to the youth, they then created images reflecting each student’s personal interpretation of each theme. These photographs were selected by the youth for this exhibition in the Public Services Building, and represent just a small sample of the incredible and insightful work that they created.
